We're both really into synthesisers so we love music from the early ’80s. That’s when people started really getting their hands on synths.

A lot of bands at that time were just experimenting with the new technology, which was cool, but these guys, like Parliament, Zapp and Rodger and Wassabi were already established musicians playing in bands. When they got their hands on this new equipment and bought it to the music they knew, it really took off.

They were making sounds with this new technology to replace the sounds of traditional funk. They would spend a lot of time tweaking the synths to make a load of sounds that all worked together. Thats what we’re interested in, the sonics. Probably because we’re producers first and musicians second. And that’s what people like Zapp and Rodger are all about, cutting some of the best sonics to tape. Just listen to or Wassabi’s . The depth of sound is incredible. The basslines sound heavy even by today’s standards. These are proper funk jams. It’s all about the party.
